BRAKE BLEEDING in 60 SECONDS

Experiencing a spongy bite point or reduced braking power? In many cases, bleeding the brake directly at the brake master is enough to restore a firm, consistent feel. The procedure is quick, straightforward and requires no expensive specialist tools.

The same basic bleeding process can be used across a wide range of MAGURA disc brakes, including the GUSTAV, LOUISE and MT models.

Even the best hydraulic disc brake may need bleeding from time to time. Air can enter the system over extended use or as a result of an imperfect initial setup. Fortunately, a complete bleed is often not necessary with MAGURA brakes.

For many cases, a quick bleed at the brake master is enough. By connecting a syringe to the brake master and carefully applying a vacuum, trapped air in the upper part of the hydraulic system can be removed within just a few minutes. This makes it a fast and straightforward way to restore a firm bite point without setting up a complete workshop bleeding procedure.

A full bleed may only be required if air has made its way further into the system, for example into the brake caliper or hose routing. The procedure shown in the video can be used on many MAGURA brake systems, including MT models such as the MT5, MT7 and MT8, as well as GUSTAV and LOUISE.

Proper bleeding helps maintain a firm bite point, consistent modulation and reliable braking performance. For mountain bikes, enduro bikes and e-MTBs in particular, keeping the hydraulic system correctly filled with MAGURA mineral oil is essential for consistent brake performance.
